London Southend Airport has been given the go-ahead with its proposed expansion project and plans are already well underway to make it bigger and better than ever before. The plan was to expand the runway an extra 300 metres or so, this would allow slightly bigger aeroplanes to use the airport. This would allow for an increase in leisure and business travel passengers to travel to various new locations all across Europe. Plans are also being put into place to build a new terminal. This would allow much more human traffic to pass through the airport doors. The whole project is projected to cost in the region of £30-40 million pounds and has a finish date that coincides with the Olympic Games. This would mean great things for the local economy, especially if more people can be attracted to make the trip down from London to see the events taking place in neighbouring towns.
